Applicable to: Tenants on TrueFoundry-managed control planes. Existing tenants are mapped to a plan automatically, no immediate action is required. Self-hosted / dedicated control planes are unaffected and continue to run without plan limits.
What Is Changing
Starting in v0.174.0, TrueFoundry enforces plan-based feature gating. Each tenant belongs to a plan — Developer, Pro, or Enterprise — and two kinds of gating are applied per plan.
Usage limits on countable resources
On lower plans, these resources have per-plan caps; once you reach a cap, creating another one of that type is blocked until you upgrade. On the Developer plan, for example:
- Users, teams, and virtual accounts
- Model accounts and virtual model groups
- MCP servers and virtual MCP servers
- Requests (monthly)
- Budget-limiting rules and guardrail policies
Gated features
Some features are unavailable on lower plans and unlock on Pro or Enterprise — either shown with an upgrade prompt or hidden entirely. Examples of features gated behind higher plans include:
- AI Gateway: stdio MCP servers, agents
- Policies: rate limiting, logging configuration, MCP tool approval
- Access: custom roles, audit logs, data routing & access
- Settings: SSO, request retries, user provisioning
Why This Change
Plans make the boundaries of each tier explicit and let teams self-serve upgrades as they grow, instead of limits being applied ad hoc. Enterprise remains fully unlimited and is billed offline.
What You Need to Do
- Review your current plan and usage under Settings > Billing in the platform.
- If you need higher limits, upgrade directly from the billing page. Pro upgrades are self-serve via Stripe Checkout.
